Mike Schmuhl

Mike Schmuhl advises leaders and organizations on strategy, communications, stakeholder engagement, and organizational growth. He helps clients navigate complex challenges, build strategic partnerships, and position themselves for long-term success.

Mike has advised leaders at the highest levels of public affairs, campaigns, and organizational leadership, bringing deep experience in strategic planning, team development, and high-stakes decision-making. He served as national campaign manager for Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 presidential campaign and later chaired the Indiana Democratic Party while serving on the Democratic National Committee Executive Committee.

Earlier in his career, Mike held senior leadership roles in government and journalism, including serving as chief of staff to Mayor Pete Buttigieg and as a campaign manager to former Ambassador Joe Donnelly. He began his career at The Washington Post and NBC’s Meet the Press.

Mike currently serves on the Advisory Council of NewDEAL, a national network of emerging leaders and innovators, and is a member of the International Council of the Sciences Po American Foundation. 

"Velo" comes from Mike's love of bicycles. Velo is the French word for bike.
